What is Tapping?

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), often referred to as "tapping", is a therapeutic opportunity to live a freer, happier life! 

It combines talking therapy with physically tapping on specific meridian points on the body, similar to acupuncture but without needles.

Whilst at first it might seem a bit strange, the effects of Tapping go deep, helping to resolve issues on mental, emotional, physical and energetic levels.  

EFT helps individuals reduce emotional distress, anxiety, and negative beliefs by addressing the underlying emotional issues associated with physical and psychological symptoms. It’s often used for a variety of conditions, including stress, trauma, phobias, and chronic pain, promoting emotional well-being and resilience.
 

How does it work?

There is a link between our energy system and the way we think and feel.

Tapping specific places on our face and body calms our nervous system and balances our energy systems. This in turn helps us to balance our mind and emotions.

All sessions involve talking and tapping and it works best when being really specific about the thing we are tapping on together. 

Therefore, I usually ask lots of questions but you always remain completely in control of what you share, and you don't need to share anything at all if you don't want to because it still works!

As we tap we usually experience our thinking and feeling changing. 

During a session it would be normal to experience more self understanding, self empathy, more peace, more joy and feeling happier in your own skin.

Insights can arise and when something is fully resolved there is often a significant sense of relief. You can expect on-going benefits when something is resolved because once it's gone it's gone! 

It's worth noting that if you're someone who doesn't relate to the term "energies" there is no need to believe in it for it to work... Each person relates to their experiences in their own unique way and how you experience something and how that is changing during a session is all that matters.

What can it help with?

- Sessions together will help to process and release difficult feelings, traumas and memories, whatever it is you choose to work on.

- It will help with people who experience PTSD, complex PTSD or anxiety because tapping soothes the fight or flight part of the brain called the amygdala and calms the nervous system down.

- It can therefore enhance your life by addressing issues and limiting self beliefs.

- Tapping is often surprisingly effective in addressing acute physical pain.

Why try tapping sessions with me?

It always takes courage to try something with someone new, and I will do what I can to make the process as simple and easy for you.

Our sessions will be individually tailored to your needs and what you are seeking to achieve. I wont ask you to commit to any number of sessions or frequency; you can decide. 

I listen carefully and some say intuitively. I'm told that the words and phrases I use really helps to capture what someone's experiencing, contributing to a reassuring sense of really being heard and listened to. 

I aim to hold sessions in a very careful and gentle way when circumstances require that. For example, when addressing the effects of very painful memories. 

Tapping is primarily an energy therapy rather than a talking therapy. We therefore don't need to talk too much if you don't want to. My aim is to help you process emotions via the tapping and to support you to feel better in the easiest and most gentle possible way. 

The sessions are usually a wonderful process of self-exploration, self empathy and understanding and I will honour and respect all that you choose to share.

Sessions online are £52 for 1 hour via zoom.

Sessions in person at The Therapy Room, Headingley, LS6 are £65 for 1 hour.

For overseas appointments, we can convert your local currency to UK Sterling using Paypal.

I'm generally available Monday to Friday, 11am to 8pm UK time but if you'd prefer a time outside of this then please let me know.
